The guidance of Gonbee

It’s the day before the show. Our designers are showing tomorrow in the biggest tent at Bryant Park in front of hundreds of people including some of the most major industry professionals in the fashion business.

No pressure.

Luckily, design instructor, Gonbee Tanaka was there to give some guidance and calm the stress of our designers as they worked today - and it never hurts to have that extra input from your instructors!

He’s almost like a guardian angel - a sartorial saint if you will. A soothing ray of light.

OMGosh - in 1980, while a shy, naive 19 yr old from NY - I attended a The San Francisco School of Fashion Design, located on the corner of Jones & Market - under the direction of an awesome instructor named Gonbee Tanaka - “Mr Tanaka” as we respectfully addressed him - please tell me this is the same man…?
