Tara Bradley was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. Being a trained ballet dancer, Tara used 20th Century modern dance and the movement of a dancer as inspiration for her silhouette to give the suggestion of movement and suspension.

New York Fashion Week September 2008 Elena Akoulova, Womenswear Designer

Born in Ulan-Ude, Russia (in Siberia on Lake Baikal) and raised in Ulan-Ude, Tashkent, Ulyanovsk and Moscow, Elena Akoulova completed her degree online while in Marietta, Georgia. She has created a womenswear collection of simple A-line linen dresses with draping techniques and colors inspired by orchids. Elena decided to present her thesis in person with her collection before the review committee in San Francisco and afterwards was told she had been selected to show during NY fashion week. She plans to go into production with her RTW line here in the U.S.

New York Fashion Week February 2008 Sherise Eways & Melissa Christensen

Swarovski Crystal sponsored the crystals on Sherise’s garments in which the silhouette and structure are based on the metamorphosis of a woman into a bird, butterfly or flower. Born and raised in Fairfax, VA, Sherise is a first generation American of Palestinian decent. Jewelry designer Melissa Christensen, a Fine Art Sculpture major, created the jewelry for Sherise’s collection and has manipulated metal by hammering and hand bending to mimic the flow of fabric. Melissa is Native American from the Mashentucket Pequot Tribe in Mashentucket, CT and has spent the past 10 years in the Bay Area of California.
