Former student Danny Roberts has been all over the press for his illustration work and his collaboration with Harajuku Lovers. First in Women’s Wear Daily and now he dives into the pages of the December issue of Elle.

As you can see, the issue graced with Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover includes one of Mr. Roberts’s many whimsical illustrations of models (in this case Mina Cvetkovic) and gives love to his blog Igor+Andre.
It looks like Danny is doing pretty good.

Blogs and websites are going crazy over this bit of news: French Vogue editor, Carine Roitfeld styled a spread with Dutch supermodel Lara Stone in blackface for this month’s issue. Shot by Steven Klein, some people are a little peeved about this spread, while other people see it as artistically sound.

A gruppie is a unique hybrid of the grunge and yuppie lifestyle. They take alternative quirks of the grunge world and mix it with that of a rich, young professional. Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl is a good example, but here are some more signs that would make you a “gruppie”
1.) You secretly listen to Lady Gaga.
2.) All you have in your fridge is a bottle of Ketel One.
3.) You have more shoes than your girlfriend.
4.) You know the location of every cannabis club in a 10 mile radius.
5.) Band of Outsiders.
6.) You have your facialist on speed dial.
7.) You log on to Gilt Groupe every day promptly at noon EST.
8.) Your checkered skinny jeans are so tight that they cut off your circulation.
9.) You have a calorie counter downloaded on to your Blackberry or iPhone.
10.) Cobra Starship.

Just because Maison Martin Margiela isn’t getting the greatest reviews for his Paris collection doesn’t mean we don’t like him. And if people are starting to stray away from the four-stitched Triple M, perhaps his new book will do some damage control:

The hair, the makeup, the clothes (or lack thereof), it could only be that special time of year again.

San Francisco has a lot of those special times and on Saturday, LovEvolution picked up where the leather-clad Folsom Street Fair left off. The parade formerly known as Lovefest took place after a week full of love themed parties throughout the city.

This “love parade” and massive outdoor rave brought masses of people, and it was a seriously fun – and fashionable. Numerous girls wore their tulle skirts and tiny tops as guys worked the underwear and nude scene. And if they weren’t nude or in tulle, they were wearing something from American Apparel. Read more…

My name is Erin Leeper. I am a student at the Academy of Art University and a model in San Francisco. I aspire to write for a well-known fashion magazine and develop an impressive portfolio through modeling and meeting extraordinary people. I moved to California three years ago with my husband. He is in the Air Force and we love living on the west coast!
A few months ago, I dropped my agency in San Francisco. I did not agree with the way they ran their business and represented black models. I am currently in the process of shopping for solid representation on the west coast. I am excited to share my testimony in these posts.
This is a “diary” to basically let you in on my life as a student and a model in the Bay Area. I will definitely give a weekly update on castings, jobs, clients, agencies, photographers, events and any other insider information on the modeling and fashion industry – like my work with Joui Tournadot.
