Recently, I had the privilege of joining the team of a fantastic company called Wear2Where. It is a well established website that combines travel, fashion, and shopping and is re-launching a brand new, and might I add, completely fabulous website. The San Francisco based company is founded and run by two savvy, stylish and sophisticated women, Sandy Mandel and Barbara Winchell. Every week, the Wear Girls take you on an adventure to a fantastic destination and show you exactly what to pack to save you time, while still looking effortlessly chic. Their witty advice and take on fashion and travel is a “can’t live without.” Working with these talented and entrepreneurial women has given me a brand new perspective on the fashion industry, and all of the smaller components that are a part of it. For the website, social media plays a huge part in the development and ongoing interest. Establishing their name on all media outlets such as Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest has been my responsibility. Along with that, there is always an upbeat energy that goes along when working together on the latest fashion collage, travel post or shopping must haves. Of course, getting distracted by online shopping has proven to be quite the regular obstacle for us. Although fashion is a huge component in the website, travel and culture never get left behind. Delectable restaurants, luxury hotels, and the newest products on the market are always elegantly picked out with a wide range of an audience always kept in mind. Still in school and raring to write? 7×7 is looking for a few editorial interns to work at the magazine during the January – June semester. If you’re hip to what’s happening all over SF and are a student currently enrolled in classes, you could be a part of our team.

The Fine Print

Interns are part of a small editorial team and work very closely with staff. They are responsible for research, fact checking, writing, and some administrative tasks.

7×7 offers three internship cycles: January – June, June – September, September – December. The positions are unpaid and require a commitment of 15-20 hours/week. Internships can only be offered to students currently enrolled in classes who will receive course credit for this internship position.

Job Description: As a Thre.ad intern you will “Spot Style”—take creative photos of your favorite styles, fashions and trends you see around campus. We are developing a mobile application that allows people to discover and share great street style looks. We also help users identify the items in those looks (or similar items), so that users can easily buy them and get the same look for themselves. Your responsibilities would include:

• Review street style photos posted to our site (either uploaded from users, or imported from other street style blogs like the sartorialist or lookbook.nu etc), identify items in those looks and attach links showing users where they can buy the items online.
• Tag each photo with a style classification (e.g. hipster or high-fashion), as well as a body type that it would look good on (this helps us recommend the best looks to our users)
• Detect key fashion trends based on what people are wearing on the streets in various cities. Compile trend reports as an email or blog post with pictures showing off the trend, and text describing it.
• Help find new street style fashion blogs with great photos that we can potentially include on our site.
• Minimum 6 hours per week or a lot more
• This internship is unpaid but can be done for school credit
