When I think of Versace, I think of a long, blonde woman with a radiant solid colored dress.
That is how Donatella Versace has shaped the brand. Perhaps Donatella has a youth obsession and she wants everyone to look like her—but younger. The models on the Versace catwalk somehow look like a better presentation of Donatella herself. Take a look at this image below from Versace Spring 2010 collection.

On Monday, we asked who this gal was:

This is indeed a pic of Harper Lee, Pulitzer Prize winning author of To Kill a Mockingbird. Seeing as though this month marks the 50th Anniversary of the book, I thought it would be appropriate to give her props.
And in case you’re interested, here are how the clues were connected:
Clue #1: Bullock - Actress Sandra Bullock played her in the movie Infamous
Clue #2: Peck - This is a nod to Gregory Peck, the actor who played the All-American hero Atticus Finch in the the 1962 movie adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Clue #3: Blood…and it’s Cold — This is in reference to In Cold Blood, which was considered the original non-fiction novel that was written by Truman Capote, Harper Lee’s BFF.
Snaps to Jamie Meinecke and Ian Horn for answering so quickly!

You might see some familiar fashion designs featured In the July/August issue of the online magazineCoco Eco Magazine — and by familiar I am referring to a photo spread that features the work of alums Richelle Valenzuela, Kara Sennett, and Amanda Cleary (who showed at September 2009 New York Fashion Week), as well as Aimee Aikin whose collection was featured in the Neiman Marcus windows at last year’s Fashion’s Night Out.

Launched in October 2008 by Anna Griffin, Coco Eco Magazine is a digital multi-media lifestyle brand celebrating sustainable fashion, beauty, celebrity, and culture. A big thank you from the School of Fashion to Michelle Llanos, Coco Eco’s Fashion Director, who pulled the collections for the shoot.
Congrats guys and gals!

The fall campaigns are rolling out and I think it’s about time we have a little chat about them…

John Galliano put Karlie Kloss (again) on Dior’s campaign. Good for Karlie! She will soon be “that Dior girl” and “Galliano’s muse.” The concept of this ad is pretty much mimicking the runway concept. I like this ad. The messy hair works well with Karlie’s vicious stare — but what’s with her right hand?

Prada cast Miranda Kerr, Angela Lindvall, Daria Strokous, and Sigrid Agren. I thought Miranda would be the one most exploited but Angela stole the show. I like the ’60s sculpted hair, which was shown on the runway show as well. Somehow it reminds me of Prada Spring 2009 campaign.

Get your coins ready and get ready to play a different kind of lotto.
The latest issue of V Magazine has magazine covers that feature Adriana Lima, Lily Donaldson, Eniko Mihalik, Isabeli Fontana, and Natasha Poly with the option to be “scratched off” to expose some of their naughty bits.
These limited edition scratch-off covers shot by Mario Sorrenti are now available at Vmagazine.com. I firmly believe this is one of the best ways to prove that print is not dead.

Louie Greaves, MFA Menswear Design student has been chosen to be part of the judging panel for the Snapshot Scholar photo contest.
Greaves (who will be showing his first menswear collection this September at Fashion Week) will use his eye for style to help choose a winner from the top 20 finalists of the contest. Students and alumni of UC Berkeley and Stanford University photos in the five week contest which allowed them to vote on each other’s photos. After five rounds of voting, the panel of judges will choose a winner from the final 20. The winner will get $5,000 and a $2,000 endowment for their favorite department at their school.
It’s kind of like American Idol but without the singing…or a record deal…actually, it’s not really like that show.
Nonetheless, congrats Louie!

July 7th 10 a.m.
This is the day of Flora and Fauna in Paris.
The fauna continues from Chanel, with crocodiles on shoulders and shoes at On Aura Tout Vu.

On the subject of wild life there was Claude Montana looking quite mellow. In his heyday his bite was worse than his bark.

When we saw Madonna wrangling a chicken in the new Dolce & Gabbana ads, we just had to share it with the world (as if it hasn’t been shared enough):

Actually, this old school Italian family vibe is working — it’s kind of tolerable and nostalgic. Shot by Steven Klein, the ads showcase Madge in various “Italian family” scenarios:

Then there is the lucky model, Max Schneider who plays her son in the shoot:

We are kinda diggin’ it. What do you think of the ads?
