This Saturday, March 3, Camilla Olson is having a trunk show at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto. Models will showcase the Spring 2012 collection which highlights classic design with a modern sensibility. Guests will dine on a three course menu from the hotel’s famed Quattro Restuarant and sip champagne in the afternoon sun – a perfectly chic afternoon! To buy tickets to the trunk show, click here.
Camilla recently re-designed the uniforms for the Four Seasons Hotel, a trend that we have seen a lot this year – Michael Angel for the W Hotel SF and Mandy Coon for the Soho Grand in NYC – just to name a few. She was recently interviewed for a segment on MSN’s Business on Main, in which she talks about the new collaboration as well as dressing James Franco’s mom, Betsy Franco, for the Oscars!

As you already read, Betsy Franco (mother of Mr. James Franco) wore designs by alumna Camilla Olson at the Oscars and events leading up to the big night. Her son even included a family picture that included the Oscar dress on his WhoSay.com page. Here are a couple of pictures (Camilla did the prints for both dresses) including a photo of Betsy and James at the premiere of Gus Van Sant’s “Unfinished” and an illustration by fellow alumna Jungah Lee.

Camilla Olson, 2010 M.F.A. Fashion Design Alumna, dressed James Franco’s mother, Betsy Franco, for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.
In addition to creating a floor length evening dress for Betsy Franco to wear to the Academy Awards, Camilla designed a series of outfits for her to wear for television appearances and other events surrounding the event (both reside in Palo Alto, by the way).
In case you didn’t know, James Franco who co-hosted the Awards with Anne Hathaway and was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his role as hiker Aron Ralston in 127 Hours (we had some lively discussion on our Facebook and Twitter pages last night — feel free to put your two cents in).
In the photos below, Betsy is wearing designs by Camilla.

Jungah and Camilla in a sea of fabric
School of Fashion and New York Fashion Week alumnae Camilla Olson and Jungah Lee reunite in Seoul, Korea.
In Camilla’s words: “We went to the huge fabric district! There were three 9-story buildings packed with in-stall vendors selling fabric. Jungah’s sister knew where all the good vendors were. In the photo, we’d just found luscious wool/ cashmere for an excellent price. We picked up tons of swatches for future orders. Afterwards we went to the traditional part if town for Korean BBQ.
Then, Jungah’s family took my husband and I to a Royal Korean 12-course dinner. This was an amazing feast and we may not eat again till tomorrow!
Oh to live like kings!

It seems like everything associated with the name “Coco” is synonymous with chic style: Coco Chanel, Coco Rocha, Coco Eco Magazine
The latter is the chicest green lifestyle magazine on the World Wide Web. Showcasing the latest in sustainable fashion, beauty, celebrity, and culture, Coco Eco can make anyone turn into an ecologically aware rock star.
Lucky for me, Coco Eco’s famed fashion director, Michele Llanos came to town (NYC that is) last weekend to direct a photo shoot for their holiday issue — and I got to take part. Needless to say, the looks were impeccably chic and styled creatively; using reused military parachutes, vegan shoes, and recycled strips of leather. Robin Brouillette, Norma Kamali, Stella McCartney, and talented Academy of Art University alums Camilla Olson and Maria Korovilas — were just a few of the designers we used. Leah Couture Headpieces and Mara Carrizo Scalise Jewelry added some extra bling to the looks.
The issue will be out November 15th — right in time for the holidays. I’m sure after reading it, Coco will be “Eco’ing” through everyone’s mind.
Here are some behind-the-scenes pics from the shoot:

Camilla Olson, M.F.A. Fashion Design
Residence: Palo Alto, California

With a B.S. in Microbiology and a M.B.A. in Marketing, Camilla patented several products and founded five companies before pursuing her M.F.A. at the Academy. She participated in the LVMH Creative Briefing Design Challenge this summer. Inspired by the movie “Blade Runner” and samurai arts, Camilla’s collection represents women as rebels breaking the restrictions of their historically constrained roles. The soft silk under-dresses represent a woman’s inner nature and the outer ‘cage’ is her strength and armor.
