Ghazaleh Khalifeh (BFA Fashion Design) before showing her collection at the graduation fashion show on Thursday, May 6. She was also one of six graduates who snagged an internship with guest of honor, Elisa Palomino for Diane von Furstenberg
This weekend I checked out the Spring Show. It was my first time going and I had so much fun! The whole production was outstanding and this year’s collections blew me away. There was a long line to get into the actual tent but it was well worth the wait. It was weird watching a show from the audience, but it was nice to be able to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere and the energy that the designs were bringing.
Every designer had a show-stopping piece. I absolutely loved the lace collection by Amelia Statler (above). The garments looked comfortable, chic and timely – lace seems to be big trend for the spring.
Ghazaleh Khalifeh (above) was another one of my favorites. I absolutely loved the structured, puff-sleeved dress in her collection. The metallic platforms were a great addition as well. Men-inspired looks, use of neon colors, and oxfords with socks set a tone for fashion this summer and inspired me to try new things.

Scott Schuman, (a.k.a. The Sartorialist) is making an appearance in San Francisco from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday October 21 (that’s today) at the Paul Smith store located at 50 Geary Street.
Mr. Schuman will be signing copies of his book fittingly titled, The Sartorialist and perhaps snapping pictures of people - so dress in your finest because it just so happens he already snapped a couple (three to be exact) of one of our students, Ghazaleh Khalifeh while she was in Paris.
A Council of Fashion Designers of America award, featured on theSartorialist and an injury at Paris Fashion Week (more on that later) - it has been quite a year for Ghazaleh Khalifeh.
It all started when Ghazaleh was awarded with the $25,000 Geoffrey Beene Design Scholarship Award from the CFDA (that’s a lot of money). She was presented with the award in June 2008 at the CFDA Awards Gala where she rubbed elbows with Carolina Herrera, Peter Som and CFDA Queen Bee (i.e. President) Diane von Furstenberg
As an added bonus, she received the French Exchange Scholarship to attend L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne - and she is did pretty well in the City of Light.
“At L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne we had to create a grand thesis/senior collection to the president of the school, professors and professionals in the industry,” she says. “Out of over sixty students, I received the highest score!” Read more…
