Yesterday was San Francisco’s annual Bay to Breakers - the 7 mile race that has turned into one of the city’s most memorable events. Runners (and several thousand spectators) all dress up in their wildest gear and take over the city, turning SF into one giant costume party. It is always the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of summer!
Did you participate in the festivities this year? Let us know what you dressed up as in the comments below!

In our latest installment of Monday Morning Photos, we’re featuring a finale shot from last Thursday’s Graduation Fashion Show and Awards Ceremony! The collections looked absolutely amazing on the runway – we’re so proud of all of the students! This particular image features the collection designed by Jacqueline Rabôt with textiles designed by Julie Seltzer. The details are stunning and the palette works so well with the models’ bright lips. We hope their hard work inspires all of you as we head into the final weeks of the semester – good luck!

Today’s Monday Morning Photo pays homage to Isabella Blow – a fearless and fascinating woman who truly embodied the essence of fashion. She was an ardent supporter of new talent, famously buying Alexander McQueen’s entire senior collection and setting up a studio for Philip Treacy in the basement of her home. Known for breaking sartorial boundaries, she was particularly fond of hats, once saying:
“Hats make you look good and feel beautiful. You can wear them for lunch, a wedding or for breakfast. It is like taking drugs: it is more fun and less dangerous. You don’t have to look like an old bat. You can be a crow and look like a hen.”
We hope her spirit inspires you in the week ahead!

Today’s Monday Morning Photo is actually video – but we just had to share it with you as it is the perfect jolt of inspiration we all need to get through these next few weeks. Last week, Oscar PR Girl posted a video chronicling a trip that Oscar de la Renta took to Mexico last June. He was invited by Moda Nextel to present his Resort 2012 collection in the largest bullfighting arena in the world, the Plaza de Toros in Mexico City. In the video, you not only see the amazing fashion show – you get to hear Oscar speak about his passion for life and for his work.
Oscar was a Guest of Honor at the School of Fashion in 2000, and the woman in the video with him is Inmadulada Habsburgo, president of the Queen Sofia Spanish Intistitute, who was also a guest of the school at the time of Oscar’s visit.
His heartfelt words are truly inspiring, and we hope that they inspire you as you gear up for finals!

For today’s Monday Morning Photos, we’re switching things up a bit and sharing an awesome piece of art we stumbled upon while browsing through the interwebs. Artist Faith Akiyama created a piece titled Together, which is a composite of all of the 2008 Vogue covers from Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, France, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. Together, they create a beautiful, ethereal image – Vogue like you’ve never seen it before.

She also created composites of each individual country – check them out after the jump and let us know your favorite in the comments below! See more…

With Coachella less than two weeks away we’ve got music on the brain. So for today’s Monday Morning Photo, we thought it would be appropriate to celebrate the mother of all music festivals – Woodstock. Jimi Hendrix closed the festival with a set that began on August 18th (a Monday morning) at 8:30 AM, and was arguably his most memorable performance, particularly for his electric rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner. This iconic image became a symbol of the ’60s – and we hope it inspires you all week long!

Happy Monday Everyone!! Today’s Monday Morning Photo is sure to brighten your day – literally. We were inspired by last night’s Mad Men season premiere, to take a trip back to the ’60s. Newsweek recently published an article titled The 60s Reality Behind ‘Mad Men’, comparing the television show to the history books. As we flipped through the photos, we happened upon this little gem:
Photo Courtesy of Braniff Collection, Eugene McDermott Library.
In 1965, Braniff – one of the fastest ever growing airlines back when flying was still a glamorous occasion – commissioned Pucci to design their flight attendants’ uniforms. This image only shows a few of the many styles – they actually had costume changes during the flights. We love the bright colors, the perfect hues to brighten your mood as you fly off to an exotic location – or as you begin a new week!

Today’s edition of Monday Morning Photos was inspired by ’60s bombshell Jean Shrimpton. We’ll Take Manhattan, the BBC movie chronicling her relationship with famed photographer David Bailey, aired this weekend on the Ovation channel – did you catch it? Not only was it an outstanding film, it also featured illustrations from our very own Gladys Perint Palmer. If you didn’t see it, you’ll have another chance this Wednesday! It airs at 5:00 and 7:00 PM, so be sure to tune in.
