The ultimate dandy, Patrick McDonald (pictured above in the middle) stopped by our humble fashion school on Friday to take a little tour. As a frequenter of our fashion shows in New York, McDonald was more than happy see our students in action. Above he is pictured in a more dandy-casual state of mind with yours truly and merchandising instructor Hersha Steinbock.
When I got to Lincoln Center this morning, I ran into somebody…
Yes ladies and gentlemen, it’s our dandy friend, Patrick McDonald. He was on his way to the Duckie Brown show and we chatted a bit before Keanan Duffty‘s “protest” show took the sidewalk (more on that later).

The famous New York Dandy Patrick McDonald (who is also a front row staple at our New York Fashion Week Show) was recently featured in a book illustrated by Jim Howard titled “Four Famous Dandies” which puts him next to punch-out versions of the dandies of yore Beau Brummell, Oscar Wilde, and the Duke of Windsor.
This is pretty darn cool! What better way to reincarnate the enjoyment of paper dolls? Who says print is a dying art?
Supporter of the Academy of Art University and avid attendee of our New York shows, Patrick McDonald looks as dandy as ever (even the guy in the boots with the fur couldn’t still his thunder). He was sitting next to another fab fashion writer, Merle Ginsberg, who I didn’t get on my camera.

Last night, Bravo TV premiered Launch My Line (which was originally supposed to premiere in September), their latest attempt to fill their void of Project Runway. In case you did miss it, watch the recap:
It just so happens that the dandy Patrick McDonald has always been seen front row at the our New York Fashion Week shows and one of the show’s experts, Coco Kliks is an alumna. That’s just something that you should know for your records.
Patrick McDonald, writer for Paper and dandy extraordinaire, sat front row at the Academy of Art University Fashion Show. He is always a guest at our show (not to mention a soon-to-be contestant on Bravo’s upcoming show Launch My Line) and we are MORE than happy to have him attend.
