We’ve already mentioned that Grace Bratsos, Miriam Tolentino, and Lauren Flex took the top honors in this year’s Stylesight Competition — but the competition also recognized eight more of our textile design students as emerging talents! Congratulations Tai Lin Hsieh, Adrienne Browning, Aricka Henderson, Eunjin Lim, Hallie Gray, Jisun Lee, Kimberley Szeto, and Marisela Gonzales!
Each year, our students continue to take the top honors in the Sylesight Prints and Graphics Contest – and this year is no exception! School of Fashion students Grace Bratsos, Miriam Tolentino, and Lauren Flex took the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd spots, respectively in the Spring/Summer ’13 competition. We are so proud – amazing job ladies!! We’ve already mentioned that Hyunjeong Jeong and Annalise Lundeen took the top spots at this year’s Stylesight competition — but they also recognized emerging talent with more of our textile students: Sunny Cho, Leah Rossi, Kelsey Faber, Elise Young, Tan Lin Hsieh, Yunkyung Wee, Sam Lee, and Zane Kearney.
Our textile design students are no stranger to the annual Stylesight competition. This year, Hyunjeong Jeong and Annalise Lundeen placed first and second respectively: Here’s a little bit more about the winners:
Hyunjeong Jeong 1st Prize Winner
$1,000 + Internship at Stylesight in London or New York
Hyunjeong was inspired by Stylesight’s F/W12 Digital Dimension theme. She used minimalistic lines and shapes with a warm palette to express dimensional depth. Hyungjeong was born and raised in Korea, and recently received her MFA in Textile Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Hyunjeong has been recently offered an internship from the Lesage Atelier in Paris.
Annalise Lundeen 2nd Prize Winner
Internship at Stylesight in London or New York
Annalise was born and raised in Loveland, Colorado moving to San Francisco for her BFA in Textile Design at the Academy of Art University. Constantly immersed and enamored with the world or art and fashion, she chose the Digital Dimensions theme and studied the Tundra and diamond cutting for inspiration.
Last year we announced that MFA Textile Design students Tanja Milutinovic and Chelle Quye took 1st and 2nd place at the annual Stylesight competition. In addition to that, Jennifer Chen, Samantha Lee, and Kelsey Faber were honored as “emerging talents.”
Tanja Milutinovic (MFA Textile Design) and Chelle Quye (MFA Textile & Fashion Design) have taken 1st and 2nd place respectively in the Stylesight S/S ’12 Prints and Graphics contest.
I don’t mean to toot our own horn, but as one of the many fashion schools that participate in Stylesight’s student print competition, we have taken home our share of prizes — and this year isn’t any different.
Jennifer Isaza (senior BFA Textile Design major), Sarah Appiah (recent BFA Textile Design graduate), and Ruby Guerra (recent MFA Textile Design graduate) snagged the top three spots for creating some snazzy prints. For this particular project, each student chose one of four inspirations: Rave, Evolution, Hyperreal, and Composition.
In addition to getting their work and profiles will be featured on Stylesight.com the first place winner (Isaza) received $1,000 while the second place winner (Appiah) had the opportunity to intern in Stylesight’s New York or Paris office.
Here are some pieces of their work:
Jennifer Isaza’s “rave” inspiration won her the top prize. This fall, she will travel to India’s National Institute of Fashion Technology as a part of the exchange student program.
Three students recently took some prizes (three to be exact) in this year’s Stylesight print competition. Stephanie Barnett, Haley Richardson and Myoung Hee Kim follow down the same path as MFA Merchandising student Belda Farika who won earlier this year.
The lead business-to-business online fashion magazine awarded $1,000 & feature page to Barnett; an internship offer in NY or Paris to Richardson and a feature page of work for Kim.
